Prasadप्रसाद
Sanctified food offered to a deity and distributed to devotees as divine grace.
Detailed Explanation
Prasad (literally "grace" or "gift") is food or other items that have been offered to a deity during puja and are then distributed to devotees. The offering transforms ordinary food into a sacred substance carrying divine blessings. Common prasad items include: fruits, sweets (especially ladoo, peda, and halwa), Panchamrit (mixture of milk, yogurt, honey, ghee, and sugar), Tulsi leaves, flowers, and Vibhuti (sacred ash). Famous temple prasads include Tirupati's ladoo (prepared by 600 cooks daily), Jagannath Puri's Mahaprasad (cooked in earthen pots), and Shirdi's Udi (sacred ash). Accepting prasad is considered an act of humility and receiving God's grace; it should never be refused or wasted.
