Tirthaतीर्थ
A sacred place of pilgrimage — literally a crossing point between the worldly and the divine.
Detailed Explanation
A tirtha is a holy site, often beside a river, mountain, or temple, regarded as a place where the divine is especially accessible — a ford or crossing between the mundane and the sacred. Pilgrimage to tirthas (tirtha-yatra), such as Varanasi, Rishikesh, or the Char Dham, is undertaken for purification, darshan, and spiritual merit. The word also denotes the sacred water used in worship.
